For the working load with large changes in impact, vibration and rotation of the wire rub machine, a flexible coupling with elastic elements, that is, the elastic coupling, to buffer, dampen, compensate for axis deviation, and improve the working performance of the transmission system. The wire rub machine starts frequently, rotates forward and reversely, and the torque during braking is several times the torque during normal and stable operation. It is overloaded, which will inevitably shorten the service life of the elastic components of the coupling. The coupling only allows for short-term overload, and generally short-term overload shall not exceed 23 times the nominal torque.

The initially selected coupling size, namely the shaft hole diameter d and the shaft hole length L, the wire rubbing machine should meet the requirements of the shaft diameter of the main and driven ends, otherwise the specifications of the coupling must be adjusted according to the shaft diameter d. The coupling external dimensions, that is, the maximum radial and axial dimensions, must be within the installation space allowed by the machine equipment. The two shafts connected to the coupling of the polyurethane equipment produce relative displacement due to manufacturing errors, assembly errors, installation errors, shaft loading and deformation, base deformation, bearing wear, temperature changes, relative movement between components, etc.
