Comparison between multi-station cold heading machines

Multi-stationCold heading machineThe design goal is to process conventional\/low-strength products. With the widespread application of high-strength products and the emergence of special-shaped products, the effective process for high-strength products is the 2-time shrinkage (large material and small deformation) process, and special-shaped products require multiple upsettings. It is difficult for 3-station machines to implement these processes, so they are gradually eliminated and replaced by 4-5-station machines. It is recommended that when purchasing multi-station cold heading machines, if conditions permit, it is best to choose 4-5-station machines, at least 4-station machines. Practice has proved that even if conventional products are produced, 4-station machines are more reasonable and economical than 3-station machines.

In contrast, the 4-station process mold has less reserves, lower costs, and more convenient management. Although this is true for cutting edge 6-corner bolts, for other types of products, one more station will provide more, more convenient, and more reasonable choices for process design and mold design.

In addition to using the 6-station nut cold heading machine, the 6-station nut cold heading machine, is used to process nuts (in fact, if the nut is simply processed, 5-station is enough), it can also implement upsetting, forwarding, back-extrusion, and closed extrusion (radial expansion) processes to process cylindrical parts with a small length-to-diameter ratio, such as pipe joints and spark plugs. The latter is commonly known as the 5-station bolt cold heading machine.

There are two types of mold arrangements for multi-station bolt cold heading machines: one is vertically arranged, and the overall structure of the machine tool is side-horizontal; the other is horizontally arranged, and the overall structure of the machine tool is supine. The side-horizontal multi-station cold heading machine is easy to operate, and workers can stand without bent over, and sit and observe the operation status of the machine tool, which is more comfortable; the design concept of the side-horizontal cold heading machine seems to focus on this advantage. However, this advantage is insignificant compared to its series of disadvantages.
